Another big for The TT Show, with Jak and Kosta going through a wide range of tech and science topics this week, kicking off with a look at the world's first AI desktop workstations with NIVIDA's Grace Hopper CPU and GPU Superchips. What does close to $50,000 get you? Basically, a supercomputer that can fit on a desk.

The duo also looked at fresh RDNA 4 specs and what to expect with the next-generation flagship Radeon GPU. It is a card that won't match the current Radeon RX 7900 XTX in performance but gets close enough on a more efficient and cost-effective node.

There's also a deep dive into Apple's plans to release foldable devices, what's inside an ancient intact chicken egg discovered by scientists, Windows 11's new DLSS-like AI features, and a recent experiment that put AI in war game scenarios. Yes, a few LLMs - including GPT - went nuclear.

AMD FSR 3 was removed ahead of Nightingale's launch because it kept crashing the game

Kosta Andreadis | Gaming | Feb 20, 2024 1:02 AM CST

Nightingale is a highly anticipated survival adventure game launching this week on PC. Its blend of Victorian-era architecture and fantasy has pushed it to the top of gamers' most-wanted lists. And it looks stunning, with visuals set to take full advantage of modern PC hardware.

AMD FSR 3 was removed ahead of Nightingale's launch because it kept crashing the game

Ahead of the game's launch, developer Inflexion Games outlined that upscaling tools like NVIDIA DLSS or the Unreal Engine's own TSR are required alongside GPUs like the GeForce RTX 3070 or GeForce RTX 3090 to hit a playable frame rate.

The recommended GPUs for playing the game at 1080p with upscaling are the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or the Radeon RX 5700 XT. With that, the game was going to launch with support for NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, Intel XeSS, and the in-engine TSR for upscaling and frame generation. However, days before the game's release, FSR 3 support has now been removed by Inflexion Games.

Use Twilio Authy Desktop app for secure log in? You have less than a month to update your 2FA

Kosta Andreadis | Software & Apps | Feb 19, 2024 11:02 PM CST

2FA, or two-factor authentication, is how many of us log into our favorite sites and apps with the peace of mind that there's a second layer of security beyond a simple (or complex) password.

Use Twilio Authy Desktop app for secure log in? You have less than a month to update your 2FA

Twilio Authy is one of the most popular 2FA authentication apps and services; however, if you're using the Twilio Authy Desktop on Windows, macOS, or Linux, you definitely want to jump to the Android or iOS app as soon as possible. Like other 2FA services, the Twilio Authy app generates codes every 30 seconds for additional log-in authentication.

As of March 19, 2024, the Twilio Authy Desktop apps will reach their End-of-Life (EOL) - a date brought forward from the previously scheduled cut-off in August 2024. Once this date hits, the desktop apps will cease to function.

Intel wants another $10 billion from the CHIPS Act and Biden administration

Anthony Garreffa | Business, Financial & Legal | Feb 19, 2024 10:08 PM CST

Intel has reportedly demanded another $10 billion from the Biden administration and its CHIPS Act, which would be the largest award yet under the plan, which is bringing semiconductor manufacturing back onto US soil.

Intel wants another $10 billion from the CHIPS Act and Biden administration

In a new report from Bloomberg, reporting from the usual "people familiar with the matter," the new package for Intel will include both loans and direct grants. Bloomberg's sources said that they didn't want to be identified because the deliberations are private -- well, not anymore -- stressing that negotiations are still in the works.

The 2022 Chips and Science Act (CHIPS) put aside $39 billion in direct grants as well as loans and loan guarantees worth $75 billion in order to lure the world's top semiconductor companies to manufacture chips in the US. CHIPS companies have invested over $230 billion in the US since Biden took office, with his administration having a goal of getting at least two leading-edge manufacturing clusters by 2030 on US soil.

Vietnamese buyer scammed: buys RTX 3060 Ti, gets a pair of womens shoes instead

Anthony Garreffa | Video Cards & GPUs | Feb 19, 2024 9:36 PM CST

We've all been scammed or know someone who has been scammed... but this latest one sees a Thai buyer scamming a Vietnamese gamer, sending them a pair of women's shoes... and not the graphics card that they ordered.

Vietnamese buyer scammed: buys RTX 3060 Ti, gets a pair of womens shoes instead

I was tagged in a new post on X by "I_Leak_VN," which pointed to a Vietnamese-based dealer that got scammed by a merchant in Thailand. The buyer wanted an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card, but when they opened the box, they realized they were scammed: a pair of women's shoes was in the box instead.

The Vietnamese dealer was approached by a Thai seller who had the Manli GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card for sale, with the buyer taking the card and paying the asking price. However, once the item was shipped, the box was missing the important graphics card and instead had the pair of shoes inside. The packaging is great, with foam around the GPU box to make it feel like there was some weight to it, but a useless pair of shoes resided inside.
