Alienware teases 32-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor: early 2024

Alienware has just teased a couple of new gaming monitors with impressive specs, both of them will be world-first when they arrive: QD-OLED at 4K 240Hz and 1440p 360Hz.

Alienware teased its new QD-OLED gaming monitors during its recent TwitchCon 2023 event, with the introduction of the AW3225QF and AW2725DF because these naming schemes are so easy to remember. Anyway, the new Alienware AW3225QF will be the world's first 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor, offering a curved 32-inch QD-OLED panel at a native 4K and a huge 240Hz... QD-OLED pumping 4K 240Hz, oh yes.

The new Alienware AW2725DF will be the world's first 360Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor, with a 27-inch QD-OLED panel at 1440 (2560 x 1440) at an absolutely mammoth 360Hz, QD-OLED at 360 frames per second. Yeah, these two new Alienware QD-OLED gaming monitors are going to be very nice indeed and will both be dropping in early January 2024.

Alienware is using the same -- and very slick -- white and black, dual-tone aesthetics on its new 32-inch and 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitors, with the curved 32-inch QD-OLED panel on the bigger 4K-capable gaming monitor looking mighty fine in the low-res pics.

Alienware will provide a decent 3-year burn-in warranty, so you won't need to worry. Personally, I've been using an OLED for many, many years now (multiple OLED TVs in fact) with zero burn-in, zero issues. OLED panels have been my absolutely favorite for many years, but 4K at 240Hz? 1440p at 360Hz? Bring it on.

On the smaller, but faster 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor we have a native 2560 x 1440 resolution, with an even faster 360Hz refresh rate. If you are a hardcore, twitch-y esports-style gamer, that 1440p @ 360Hz on a QD-OLED panel is going to look and feel oh-so-smooth.

Both of these new Alienware QD-OLED gaming monitors will require an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card... it's about the only one that will come close to running games at 4K and then 240 frames per second. Meanwhile, the 1440p QD-OLED panel is just as bad: you need to run games at 360 frames per second. The 1440p @ 360Hz shouldn't be too hard in esports-focused games like Overwatch 2, Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League, League of Legends, and more.

But try and open up something like the upcoming Alan Wake 2 or even Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K, and give me a 240FPS average. Yeah, it's a monitor from the future, man. You will need DisplayPort 1.4 here as well, but I'm sure we'll see Alienware use HDMI 2.1 connectivity here as well.

Alienware already has the world's fastest IPS gaming monitor with its AW2524HF gaming monitor, offering a 24.5-inch Rapid IPS-based panel with an eye-watering 500Hz refresh rate. That's right... 500 frames per second. Alienware only unveiled its 500Hz gaming monitor a couple of months ago, with the new QD-OLED gaming monitors upping the bar considerably, but they're still a few months away from their arrival in early January 2024.
